Bulk Beef Cost Comparison

You are here:

You can eat healthier when you buy bulk beef from Ozark Prime Beef – but you can also save money! Stocking up on meat has numerous benefits, but always having delicious, prime beef on hand is a convenience you can get used to quickly! While there will be different prices from farmers based on breed, we’ve taken current prices of grocery store “grass-fed beef” to compare to our grass-fed, grain-finished all natural beef – based on average cost at the time of this posting.

Buy Bulk Beef – Cost Comparison

Buy Bulk Beef Grass-Fed Grain-FinishedThe first thing to remember is that when you buy even a quarter beef, you’re going to need ample freezer space. If you feel a quarter is a bit too much, then consider sharing the quarter with a friend, work colleague, or family member. Finding someone to “go in” with you on prime beef at a good price is usually not hard at all.

As for the difference or debate over 100% grass-fed beef, one should consider the facts vs. the marketing hype. While back before 1940, all meat produced was grass-fed, but still finished on grain at the end of autumn. During harvest season, grasses, legumes, grains and forage crops were all part of a beef steer’s diet. Additionally, our soils are now very much out-of-balance and cattle do not get to roam around to new grazing grounds as they once did. Cattle can also get too much grass or hay – and too much protein can affect body weight and the ability to breed. Competent farmers know this, and will not withhold grain to the ill-effects of their cattle’s health.

Grass-fed beef that is grain finished means the steer was raised primarily on grass, with grain supplementation weeks before butchering. Rather than put unrealistic consumer choices on cattle or their keepers in an unsustainable way, consider the option to buy bulk beef from family farmers that know what’s best for their animals.
